random fact no 1: today my mom drove past, what she claimed, to be the 'aluminum house', in school, after passing subway. for the longest time after, after trying to picture a house made of such a metal, i realised she meant alumni house.
random fact no 2: after histo prac today, after seeing all the microscopic things.. my mom was driving me home in the heavy rain. and the windscreen was spattered with raindrops big and small that totally reminded me of arteries, veins and nerves and satellite cells. exactly the same pattern.
random fact no 3: i learnt recently after 2 weeks of learning about the male pelvis, that the part of the urethra that passes through the prostate is called the 'prostatic urethra' and not 'prosthetic urethra' which made me wonder when i first heard it- why would it be such named after the plastic limbs that you make for people if they lose their original limbs unless..
random fact no 4: i find the phrase "can you stop being a cowwwwwwwwww" very nice to roll off the tongue. courtesy of geri
random fact no 5: i was watching cutthroat island on channel 5: this show about an agressive female pirate trying to find treasure. so one day she bought this slave (the only good looking male character in the show) because he could speak latin, and the treasure map she had was in latin.
so the two of them are sitting in the carriage facing each other, as the horse rumbles on its way, and the female pirate gives the slave the map to translate. the slave, trying to be funny, demands his freedom in exchange for translating the map. the female pirate, who is like too tough to be threatened..
immediately took our her dagger, and pointed the tip at his groin area...
meanwhile, as she did that she looked down, onto the map that he was holding and realise that there were letters written upside and so she promptly exclaimed
"it goes backwards!!!"
and the slave was like.. "uh..yeeeah.. it's quite normal, if you didnt know that."
like, i wouldn't have gotten the joke at all or come close to why it meant anything if i never learnt about the cremasteric reflex. such a practical use the body has for such a reflex.
